Mixed Use / Small business

Many small businesses downsized with the recession and working from home became a more common solution than ever to reduce overheads. The ability to quickly install a system in the home was achieved by many companies from around 2007, however, mainly due to the range of detector types available, this has only ever been a domestic option.

But now, Dual-Technology (DT) detectors our installers can use the same system to cover the home and also attached commercial premises with:

  • Dual-tech detectors in harsh environments, such as a mechanics workshop

  • PIRs with corridor lenses to cover areas between aisles and shelving

Such options could be used to cover small businesses where the living areas are above or alongside the business premises, such as shops, garages and workshops.

A wide range of accessories can meet a multitude of scenarios and applications, whatever the combined home and business property(s) we will have the security solution to match.

Utilising the wireless detectors throughout, door contacts on the main entrances and exits, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors covering any stairways and main living and business areas, shock sensors (particularly on ground-floor level or any flat roof access to the property) and an external sounder, to act as the perfect visual and audible deterrent.

All of this can be connected comfortably using mobile apps and not only that, but with the addition of cameras, live video streaming can be used to monitor your entire system from anywhere in the world.

Home Security

We are confident our wired, wireless and hybrid options will give you the set up you need.

If living in a building without a pre-existing alarm system, then wireless could be the answer. Ideal for retrofitting with minimum disturbance to the property. No wires means no fuss - so there is no need to take up any carpets or floorboards.

To ensure you’re covered we recommend fitting a PIR motion detector in each room of the ground floor. This should include the living room, dining room and kitchen areas.

Should you have pets, digital dual-technology PIR and microwave pet immune detectors that offers pet immunity to a 24kg animal are a must.

On wireless fits, a door contact should be fitted on all main exits.

Should you have a garage we would also suggest fitting contacts on the garage door as well as fitting a dual-tech detector so as to minimise false alarms, as it is likely to be drafty.

If your property has a conservatory, again we suggest fitting a dual-tech detector, as it is a harsher environment than your main living areas and could be prone to false alarms, as well as contacts on things like French windows and patio doors.

You should also have a minimum of one Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector situated near to the main occupied area (usually the living room) and a smoke detector just outside the kitchen or main living area, but not too close to the kitchen so as to avoid false alarms.

Upstairs you should have one movement detector on the landing. As a general rule there is no easy access upstairs, so one detector on the landing as, should an intruder break into a bedroom, as soon as they exit to the landing they would be detected.

There should also be another Smoke detector and a CO detector close to the bedrooms too.

If the property has any flat roofs or easy access then either vibration detectors (wireless only) on the windows or a movement detector in the room is necessary. Often, the vibration detector is the better choice as this can be active while you’re in bed, without setting off a false alarm.

Acting as an external visual and audible deterrent you should have at least one sounder positioned.
